The Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Phoenix (JCRC) has welcomed Rabbi Mindie Snyder as Executive Director. Rabbi Snyder brings over thirty years of experience in arts, health and human services to her work with the Jewish community and the community-at-large. She has been a program innovator, organizational executive, consultant to corporations, state, and national agencies. Throughout her career, she has attended to the creative, psychological and spiritual needs of children, teens, adults and families; working in rural and urban environments, in the US and abroad, where building bridges between people is beneficial for community harmony.
Rabbi Snyder is an award-winning artist, designer, expressive arts
therapist and community organizer. A requested media spokesperson for
issues regarding aging, end of life, at-risk youth and families, among other
Jewish, social, and public health concerns, Rabbi Snyder remains a fierce
advocate for the wellbeing of people and the planet. Her research has
explored the diverse languages present in common spaces, and the
revitalizing, relationship-enhancing power of hospitality (haknasat orchim),
in contrast to the public health hazards of hate, ignorance, and indifference.
Traditional JCRC work has never been more relevant or needed in our post-10/7 world. Grounded in universal Jewish values, we build and strengthen alliances with others, mobilize public advocacy, work to enrich and empower meaningful communication between people. We do this not only to advance the interests of the Jewish community, but also to reinforce the fabric of democracy for all.
Alan Zeichick, board chair of the JCRC, said, “I’m delighted that Rabbi Mindie has joined us at JCRC. She has an amazing ability to bring people together. She radiates joy — the joy of being alive, the joy of being Jewish.”During these troubling times, Rabbi Mindie is exactly who we need to build bridges inside our community, and also to our friends and fellow-travelers,” Zeichick continued.
In a time of growing polarization and hatred, the JCRC is uniquely poised to help heal fractured relationships, lessen prejudice, and counter the countless lies that are used to harm the Jewish people and Israel.
“Just as Abraham and Sarah’s open tent illustrates the importance of welcome and inclusion, we too offer an inviting, safe space to bring people together. I am excited to join forces with you, uniting the people of our community, to meet the moment,” said Rabbi Mindie.
